🌟 New Welsh-Medium Nursery at Ysgol Gymraeg Coed-Y-Gof from September 2026 🌟

Cardiff Council is excited to announce plans to introduce a Welsh-medium nursery class for 3–4 year olds at Ysgol Gymraeg Coed-Y-Gof. 🎒✨

This follows a public consultation where 93.4% of respondents showed strong support for the proposal. The new nursery will:
✅ Offer 24 part-time places (with room to expand)
✅ Strengthen early years education through the Welsh language
✅ Support the Welsh Government’s Cymraeg 2050 strategy
✅ Provide continuity from nursery into primary education

The nursery will be based in existing facilities, requiring minimal adaptations, and could also open up opportunities for wrap-around childcare in partnership with local providers.

This is a positive step forward in giving more families the chance to start their child’s education journey in Welsh, while also supporting the long-term sustainability of the school. 🏫❤️
